Similarly, A Math has two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers 1 and 2 are of 2 hours and 15 minutes. While paper 1 contains around 12 to 14 questions, paper 2 has 9 to 11 questions.

E Math focuses on fundamental mathematics skills and knowledge. It is split into three main sections: number and algebra, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability. It deals with day-to-day mathematical problems such as GST, interest measurements etc. Moreover, it also refines the processing skills required to acquire and apply mathematical skills.
On the other hand, A Math adequately prepares students for A Level Math. It requires a strong foundation of manipulation skills and mathematical reasoning to understand the subject content. The syllabus has three main components: algebra, trigonometry and geometry, and calculus.
In this course, emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and processing skills. Compared to E Math, A Math requires highly detailed responses with considerably complex workings and a higher allocation of marks.
Differences in the Complexity Levels
It is common for students to assume that A Math has a greater complexity level compared to E Math. However, that is not the case. As A Math questions have a similar pattern, sufficient practice with a scope of questions and memorising formulas can often make it more systematic for students. In contrast, E Math questions require creative approaches to reach the solution. As a result, numerous students find A Math easier to cope with than E Math.
